CLEOPATRA:
Cleopatra, the last Pharaoh of Ptolemaic Egypt, was an accomplished diplomat, intellectual, and politician. In March 51 BC, Cleopatra and her brother Ptolemy XIII inherited the throne after the death of Ptolemy XII. They held a joint reign over the throne, but 18 year-old Cleopatra quickly took full control and saved Egypt from famine, floods, and economic implosion. She later petitioned her lover, Julius Caesar, to help in her efforts to take away Ptolemy XIII's right to the throne - an effort in which they succeeded. It is said that Cleopatra later committed suicide under political duress by allowing a venomous asp snake to bite her.
