Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani activist for women's rights, with a focus on education. Born in 1997, she is also the youngest laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize. When she was just 11 years old, Yousafzai chronicled her daily life and how the Taliban occupation affected her and her family. Her writings were published in BBC Urdu, and Yousafzai's work became more and more prominent in the media. In 2012, she was shot in the head in an attack, but recovered and regained consciousness several days later. In 2015, she opened a school for Syrian refugees, and is still championing the importance of education for women and girls.
